Meyer Sound Planet X Classroom
2998 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley, United States
09:30- 17:30
This course explores the principles of loudspeaker system design, focusing on the physics, prediction, measurement, and optimization techniques used in professional sound reinforcement. Participants will apply these concepts using Meyer Sound loudspeakers, MAPP 3D system prediction software, and the Galileo GALAXY processor platform.
Modern tools like prediction software and affordable analyzers make system design more accessible than ever. But true mastery requires understanding the science behind the tools. Without it, troubleshooting and adapting to real-world challenges becomes guesswork.
Through a structured approach grounded in acoustic principles, this course trains attendees to make informed design decisions, validate them with measurement, and avoid missteps caused by misunderstood data. Emphasis is placed on optimizing multi-zone systems by managing level and phase relationships to ensure consistent, high-quality coverage.
Participants will develop critical listening skills alongside technical analysis—connecting what they hear with what they measure. The result is not just proficiency with tools, but a mindset of intentional, predictive, and verified system design.
By the end, attendees will be equipped to design systems with confidence and purpose, ensuring every listener experiences the performance as intended.

Since 1997, Mauricio has taught more than 600 seminars — an average of 30 per year — in 72 countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and more than 30 conferences for Audio Engineering Society in 22 years in three continents.
Mauricio has worked on the sound for various installations, festivals, and artists, including the Nobel Peace Prize (Norway), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Isle of Wight Festival (United Kingdom), Marcos Witt (Mexico), National Auditorium (Mexico), Telmex Auditorium (Mexico), Soda Stereo (Colombia), Paul McCartney (Argentina), Metallica (Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, United States, Denmark, Holland), Marc Anthony (Panama, Guatemala, San Salvador, United States), and Roskilde Festival (Denmark).
Costandina Daros is a graduate of UC Irvine’s MFA Sound Design program. Her love of sound started in Theatrical Sound Design and has been growing ever since. Some of her favorite past designs include Birds of North America (The Odyssey), The Little Prince (South Coast Repertory), and her MFA thesis show Rent (UC Irvine) which featured a Meyer Spacemap Go System with Ultra-X40s to track the vocals. In her role as Meyer Sound’s Associate Technical Instructor she looks forward to sharing her knowledge while making learning accessible to all.
